This is ticklish business. If you are interested in trading minerals here are two solid strategies for going about it.
You can be a static trader, staying in a station and earning on the buy/sell margins. You can also be a mobile trader placing buy orders or buying outright from various locations then moving your minerals to the best price offered.
The first option is simple enough but takes a load of ISK and great trading skills to beat the broker fees and taxes. Mineral margins are very narrow. The second method even a rookie pilot can undertake. The farther you are willing to haul your minerals the more you will earn. Look for areas that are off the beaten path and try placing a few buy orders. Make sure you limit the buy range to one station or system otherwise you will be flying around picking up all the little odds and ends for days.

Well that is general advise. Let me add that when your trading margins in a station your buying order nocxium for example at 695 and reselling chunks of the stuff for say 725, if the prices and margins allow that kind of spread. Sometime spreads are paper thin and there is no opportunity to trade so you must find another item with more favorible margins. Remember you always have to pay taxes when you sell. About 1.25% depending on your standing at the station. If your not careful you could loose.
The regional trading is more my style cuz you can find a hot spot where there are people but its away from the 4 trade hubs of Jita, Amarr, Sinq and Heimatar. You cab pick stuff where ever you can find it cheap then gather it and take it to your "hotspot ". There you can mark the items up like 50% to 200% of the normal price. People will pay cuz it saves them the time of flying to.the closest hub we only have so much time in a day so ill buy Ammo.at a mark up say instead of 50, ill pay 75 or ill pay 160 rather than 120 in Jita. Remember to use jumpclones to jump from hub to hub and get all your 915 market orders up and working per account. Be well. - Demon Servant
